These awards are named after the late ICU survivor, Rev. Richard Langford, PhD, a long-time member of Vanderbilt’s ICU survivor support group and a loving and supportive presence to many in the PICS community.

Richard committed his life to helping others, impacting people around the world through his work in missions, addiction recovery, worship leading, and brain research. Though he endured pain and struggle, he was known for his kind spirit and his undying friendship. Richard passed away in Nashville, the evening before the inaugural Walk 4 PICS event, September 29, 2023.
